The most common test used to detect vitamin D deficiency is a blood test called the 25-hydroxyvitamin D test, or 25(OH)D test.
This test measures the amount of vitamin D currently circulating in your bloodstream and is considered the most accurate way to determine if your levels are low, sufficient, or too high.
It gives a snapshot of your present vitamin D status but doesn’t reveal how well your body metabolises or maintains those levels over time.
