Why would I need a maternity test?

  • In adoption cases, children often grow up wanting to find their biological or “birth” parents and a DNA maternity test can be the final step in locating an absent mother. At EasyDNA we offer a simple to use, at-home-test, which will provide peace of mind to anyone living with doubt or questions for the cost of $199. The same would also apply to parents wishing to locate a child they had put up for adoption.
  • DNA immigration tests are now a very common part of citizenship and visa applications, recognised by the CIC Citizenship & Immigration Canada and many other national immigration departments.
  • A legal DNA test is also available in cases where proof of a biological relationship is needed for court admissible purposes. At EasyDNA we offer legal tests for all relationship testing including maternity and paternity tests.

Collecting samples for your maternity test

Samples for a maternity test can be collected using our home sample collection kit (in cases of peace of mind testing). For legal or immigration cases, we will send a special legal kit to your chosen sampler. You will need to find a sampler and provide us with their address.

The kit contains everything you need to collect the samples. You will have colour coded swabs for mother and child, instructions and consent forms.  Samples are collected by means of oral swabs. Once the swab samples are collected, these need to be sent back to the laboratory for testing. You will need to include the consent forms duly filled in.

Maternity test results are ready in just 3-5 working days from the receipt of samples at the laboratory.

Note: We can only guarantee standard result turnaround time when testing takes place solely using oral swab samples. Using a discreet sample for your test may lead to an increase in turnaround time.

We do not offer express testing if you choose to send a discreet sample. We can offer express testing only if you use mouth swabs.
