About avuncular testing

Avuncular testing includes two person analysis (aunt or uncle and their niece or nephew). The results of your test are sent attached to an email in PDF format within 5-7 working days. Remember that you begin counting the turnaround time from the moment you receive our email confirming we have received your samples. The lab cannot perform this test if the aunt / uncle is NOT a full sibling to the alleged father in question.

Note: We can only guarantee standard result turnaround time when testing takes place solely using oral swab samples. Using a discreet sample for your test may lead to an increase in turnaround time.

This test is often used when the alleged parent is deceased or unavailable for the test; in this case, testing the brother or sister of the alleged parent alongside the alleged parents child can help solve the issue of parentage.

We strongly suggest including the sample of a known parent to provide stronger results.

Results for aunt/uncle testing

Test results are intended to provide a statistical likelihood that gives evidence to support the tested relationship in question. Providing additional parties to be tested (for example, a known parent’s sample) or performing direct relationship testing may provide additional evidence.

Are the relatives male?

If testing is to confirm a biological relationship between male relatives, the ideal test is a Y chromosome test . This is a better alternative to uncle-nephew avuncular testing. This test is highly accurate and provides a yes or no answer, either confirming the male participants are biological relatives or excluding the biological relationship. The cost for this test is $349 which includes the testing of two males. Results for this test are ready in 5-7 working days.
